All of our walks are free. It is Ramblers’ policy to allow three walks before joining. All walk leaders are fully paid up members of the Ramblers’ Association. WINTER WALK PROGRAMME 2009 / 2010
Saturday 20th March Lomond Hills Grade: B. Distance: 8 miles. Meet / Time: KRSN at 09.15 a.m. or East Lomond Signal Station at 10.00 a.m. Map Ref: 59/NO:252059. Description: A very good hill walk offering excellent views of Fife. Involves climbing both both East & West Lomond Hills then dropping down and around Harperleas Reservoir before returning via Craigmead and East Lomond limekilns . Note: Children welcome if fit. No dogs please.

Sunday 4th April Kirkcaldy: Gartmorn Dam & Forestmill Grade C: 8 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 09.30 am or Gartmorn Dam C.P. at 10.30 am, map ref: 58/NS:911940. Note: Dogs: NO, Children: YES if fit and accompanied by a responsible adult. Description: Circular walk from Gartmorn Dam along good paths / tracks to Forestmill returning via disused railway track / cycleway
Saturday 17th April Kirkcaldy: Loch Leven Heritage Trail Grade C: 8 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 09.45 am or Kinross Boathouse C.P. (follow road opposite Kinross Old Town Hall to Loch side) at 10.30 am, map ref: 58/NO:122017, for 10.50 am bus to Vane Farm. Note: NO dogs and NO children Description: Good paths. Remember to bring bus pass.
Sunday 2nd May Kirkcaldy: Gauldry – Kilmany – Birkhill Circular Grade B+:10 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 08.45 am or Main Street Gauldry at 09.45 am, map ref: 59/NO:376238. Note: Dogs: NO, Children: YES if fit and accompanied by a responsible adult. Description: Ascent 900 feet. Paths and tracks with a little road walking.
Saturday 15th May Kirkcaldy: Bishop Hill – West Lomond – East Lomond (Car Free Day) Grade B+: 10 miles. Meet/Time: Glenrothes bus station at 09.50 am for 10.00 am bus to Scotlandwell. Note: NO dogs and NO children Description: Starting at Scotlandwell, climb Bishop Hill, descend to Glenvale, climb steep slopes up to West Lomond then along to East Lomond before dropping down to Pitcairn and returning by bus to Glenrothes. Reservations and payment (£10) for the evening meal on 30th May to be made to Liz Greig by today.
Sunday 30th May Kirkcaldy: Bishop Hill Circular & Evening Meal Grade C+: 7 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 09.30 am or Holl Reservoir at 10.00 am, map ref: 58/NO:224034. The walk will be followed by a meal at the Dunnikier Golf Club 5.00 pm for 5.30 pm where non walkers can join us. Note: Dogs: NO, Children: YES if fit and accompanied by a responsible adult. Description: From Holl Reservoir, climb Bishop Hill before dropping down into Glenvale and returning to car park via Harperleas Reservoir.

Description: Follow hill paths to Andrew Gannel Hill (670m) then to Ben Cleuch (721m) returning via Ben Ever (622m) to Silver Glen and Woodland Park.
Wednesday 30th June Kirkcaldy: Carden Den & Sunnyside Grade C: 5 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 10.00 am or on Kirkcaldy to Lochgelly road east of Shawsmill Farm at 10.30 am. map ref: 58/NT:227930. Note: Dogs: YES, if kept on short leads, Children: YES, if fit and accompanied by a responsible adult. Description: Carden Den to Cardenden. Return via New Carden and Sunnyside.
Sunday 11th July Kirkcaldy: Edinburgh & Innocent Railway Grade C+: 7 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 09.45 am for 10.08 am train to Haymarket or 11.00 am at Haymarket Station, map ref: 66/NT:240732. Note: Dogs: NO, Children: NO. Description: From Haymarket to the Innocent Railway via The Meadows, along to Duddingston and the Radical Road before heading for Waverley.
Saturday 24th July Kirkcaldy: Sidlaw Circular Grade B: 5/6 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 09.00 am or Balkello Community Woodland Car Park at 10.15 am, map ref: 54/NO:365385.. Note: Dogs: NO, Children: YES, if fit and accompanied by a responsible adult. Description: A short walk with some fairly strenuous sections of ascent.
Saturday 7th August Kirkcaldy: The Three Castles (Fife Outdoor Access Festival) Grade C+: 10 miles. Meet / Time: KRSN at 09.45 am or at Ravenscraig Park Car Park at 10.00 am, map ref: 59/NT:293926. Note: Dogs: NO Children: YES, if fit and accompanied by a responsible adult. Description: Coastal walk to West Wemyss then inland to Coaltown of Wemyss and East Wemyss. Return via coastal path.
Saturday 21st August Kirkcaldy: Water of Leith (Balerno to Leith) Grade C+: 12 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 09.00 am for 09.13 am train to Haymarket or 10.45 am at Balerno High School, map ref: 66/NT:163668. Note: Children: NO, Dogs: NO. Description: No 44 bus from Haymarket to Balerno then a pleasant downhill walk to Leith following river.

Sunday 19th September Kirkcaldy: Deuchary Hill & Loch Ordie Circular Grade B+: 11 miles. Meet/Time: KRSN at 09.00 am or Cally CP (off A923 just north of Dunkeld) at 10.30 am, map ref 53/NO:023437.. Note: Dogs: NO, Children: YES, if fit and accompanied by a responsible adult. Description: A track and path walk through open countryside over Deuchary Hill (509m), some remote Lochans, down to Loch Ordie (perhaps sight an osprey if we are lucky) and return to CP.
